Celebrity Fauxmance and Murder Mystery
*I was sent a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*
I was hoping this book would be reminiscent of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - which was a five star read for me last year. Sadly, Let's Pretend just didn't work for me.
Let's Pretend lacked the feeling of Hollywood glamour that I was hoping for and I found none of the characters likeable. In fact I found the majority of them, including the protagonist, very dislikeable which meant that I wasn't invested in what happened to them. The writing style also didn't work for me - it felt a little stilted.
I was intially somewhat engaged by the fake relationship and murder mystery that were set up and so I read on to find out what happened. However, the latter part of the book felt very confused and messily executed. I also didn't like the ending.
My overarching view of this book is that it just didn't reach it's potential. I ended up finishing the book, so clearly it did interest me somewhat, but this just wasn't an enjoyable read for me.
