This is a pleasant and engaging narrative. Kate makes the very scary decision to leave her soulless job at a well known auction house, but what to do next...become a dog walker !
One of her clients is Frank the female Jack Russell whose owner is pleasant enough, until Kate loses an irreplaceable ball. Not so for Labrador Winston whose owner Carl is the most annoyingly anal retentive character I have ever encountered in a book. Then follows many more interesting dog and owner combinations, one or both of dubious character. The same could be said of the dog walkers Kate hires as the business grows, particularly Gabriella who manages to lose a dog in Lincoln's Inn Fields !
In between all this, and a few house moves, Kate and her boyfriend Finlay find time to get married and have a baby daughter. Ultimately they move to the countryside, where they are quick to make the distinction between that even though they have moved from London, they are not FROM London.
