Now - I must admit - I was attracted to this book having watched 'The Durrells' on TV with the family, and as soon as this came up - I had to grab it for my Mum, as I knew she would love it, after I had reviewed it. And so she has.

Nevertheless, this is a great story that explores not only the island of Corfu in the footsteps of a fan who also enjoyed the stories of the Durrell family antics with her own father - but this is perhaps a pilgrimage to her father and the memories she shared with him and the promise that one day they would explore the island together.

The trouble is - we seldom find the time to keep such promises - so when our heroine finds herself alone after a relationship - the opportunity to fulfil a promise presents itself and we share in her journey of Corfu and her self discovery.

A fantastic summer read - especially for those who are fans of Gerald Durrell and The Durrells.
