This is by far the best book I have read in a very long time! I laughed, I cried, and more importantly I couldn't put the book down from the minute I started reading it.

From the very first page, I instantly wanted to give Loveday Cardew a hug (which she would have admittedly hated receiving!). Loveday is clearly more comfortable in her world of novels than in a world of people she can't understand, which is something a lot of people can definitely relate to. Books are her escapism, which makes the tragic end to the novel all the more heartbreaking.

Stephanie Butland has done the most amazing job in putting Loveday's life into words, taking the reader on a journey from past to present which explains Loveday's quirks and her ways of thinking in the most enthralling way. I cried learning about her upbringing, I cried at the way she let previous experiences dictate her decisions and relationships in adult life, and I cried when Loveday finally let her past lay to rest. As heartbroken as I was at the end of the book (without giving away any spoilers), the tears were ones of gratitude for all Archie had done for Loveday over the years, and for how the little gestures in life are often the ones that are most appreciated.

I cannot thank Stephanie enough for inviting us into the life of Loveday Cardew. I really am Lost for Words.
