When I started this book I wasn't getting great vibes from it - there was a lot of self loathing and particularly negative feelings from the main character about her weight and body. However, I stuck with it, and whilst those parts weren't to my liking, and I did skip over the 'fat club' chapter, there were some standout moments that made this book worth reading.

As a person very familiar with autism, I enjoyed seeing a portrayal of an undiagnosed autistic adult. I felt that was something I could really relate to. It was clear that the main character, who seems to be a reflection of the author, absolutely wanted the best for her autistic child and was there was definite character development with coming to terms with her son's diagnosis, what it means and how it affects him and others. I also enjoyed the raw look at friendships, relationships and careers. Altogether a very enjoyable and easy read.
