I really liked the little poem that was included before the fantastic opening chapter! In only two pages I am already very interested in Madame Burova and so keen to learn more about her life and the people she has met through her time as a Tarot Reader, Palmist and Clairvoyant over the last fifty years. She is now retiring and is about to open two envelopes containing secrets she has been entrusted to keep. What promises did she make all those years ago and to who, to keep the contents of the envelopes safe?

The book then goes back in time to 1972 where we get to meet Imelda (Madame Burova) as she is getting ready to begin her first day working on the promenade in this role, taking over from her mother. I liked the insight into her family life and already know this is going to be a book I am going to love reading.
