Another fantastic novel by Ruth Hogan. This story is set in Brighton, 1973 where Imelda Burova has taken over from her mother as a tarot reader and clairvoyant. Working in a booth and holiday park she has a genuine talent and kind heart. People turn to her for advice, friendship and to keep their secrets. I loved this era of the story, the energy of a holiday park in the seventies with daredevil acts, mermaids and all the staff getting together at the bar after the shows.
The story continues in the future with Billie , having recently lost her parents she received a letter from the solicitor which changes her life. The letter includes a note from Imelda- to contact her if she wants more information. As these women meet we find out how the story of the friends and family from 1973 continued and how Billie and Imelda are linked from then.
You can’t help but become completely embroiled in this story, I read nearly all of it in one sitting, an absolute joy.
