This is a heart-warming story set over two time periods - the present day and the 1970s. In the present day we meet our two central characters - Madame Burova (Imelda), who is retiring from working in her beloved seafront booth and Billie, who has recently lost her father and has discovered something about her past which causes her to question her entire life up to this point.
In the 1970s we follow Imelda as she is starting out on her fortune telling career, taking over the Brighton seafront booth from her mother. We meet some of her customers as they come to have questions answered by the tarot cards, or their palms read, or fortunes told. Over the years Imelda has many secrets entrusted to her, and one of them might just help Billie find out who she really is…
With a (mostly) likeable cast of characters, this is an easy-to-read and enjoyable tale.
