I love Ruth Hogan's books and this one did not disappoint. It is set both in the present day and the 1970's and follows the lives of Billie, who is searching for her birth parents, and Madame Burova, who is a Tarot reader and holds the key to Billie's past.

As always, Ruth Hogan's characters are beautifully written, quirky and believable. I wanted the book to go on so that I could see more of their lives. The book itself covered some difficult issues, such as racism, prejudice, sexism, and adoption, but was still uplifting and left me smiling and wishing that it was longer. And there were moments of humour. I thought that Brighton was the perfect setting for Madame Burova's fortune telling booth and the holiday park that the events centre around.

The cover of this book is truly beautiful and captures well the characters in the novel. I am very much looking forward to reading Ruth Hogan's next novel already!
