This is the first book from Ruth Hogan that I have read, but I definitely want to read more.
I really enjoyed reading Madame Burova as part of a readalong. It was such a wonderfully written book with just enough whimsy that it was still realistic. The characters were brilliantly created, with such unique names and fantastic qualities. I wanted to immerse myself into both the 70s and the present day of Imelda Burova.
The dogs obviously added that special touch, they always do.
I loved weaving between the timelines, finding out about our characters and finding out the mystery involved. I was hooked from the get go and found it hard to put the book down.
Ruth certainly did her homework. Whilst taking part in the readalong we had a couple of Q and A sessions with the woman herself, who explained her research, writing process and more. This just added to the whole experience.
