Unfortunately I couldn’t finish this one. I wanted to love it after being a fan of Ruth Hogan when I was younger, but I only got about 100 pages in. The cover design (and the reissues of her last books) is wonderful, and has done a really good job of bringing the books to a new audience, which is what made me pick it up. However, I found the characters didn’t really speak to me, although I enjoyed the scenes set in the old holiday park for their nostalgic nature. Im going to pass this one on to my mother, who I’m sure would enjoy it—I think I’m just not the right audience. For fans of Lucy diamond and Shelia O’flanagan this would be a great addition to a shelf, but just not for me. I’m quite a picky reader so I do put books down if they don’t grab me immediately, and as I couldn’t see where this one was going I didn’t continue it. I may pick it up again in the future.
