I was really pleased when I received this book but had to postpone reading it for a while as I knew it wasn't going to be a light hearted read.
Obviously the subject of the book prevents it being light hearted but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't one of those books you need to slog through. The author, in telling the tale from the child's point of view, keeps it light and almost innocent. Despite the twins being identical she gives them their own personality and this makes them very different indeed.
The writer also keeps the book readable by including just enough detail for us to be suitably horrified but not so much that you stop reading. I do not envy the research that must have been done to write this book.
I did really enjoy this book, threads in the story are well tied together throughout and it has inspired me to further look in to this subject further.
In a final note, not intending to spoil the ending but I was surprised then pleased at who the author chose the man with the newspaper at the orphanage to be. The story would have had a whole different ending had it been the other possibility.
