I loved being in the shoes of the main characters - it really made me feel their passions and pains. The book is written with soft beauty and take you through the journey of two sisters being exposed to all the horrors of the holocaust. Although this can be a difficult subject to write about, Konar has handled it with absolute grace. You feel the horrors of the concentration camps although this isn't a horror book. You live the feelings of the main characters from start to finish. It can be a little emotionally draining at times, but the book is well worth a read.
I would recommend to anyone that wants to understand a portion of what the world felt like at that time. Writing about the past takes a lot of research and you can see that Konar has done this in droves. Bravo!
