I enjoyed this sequel almost as much as the first one - it was great to pick up where we left off with the characters, and learn more about them as the book progressed. Other more minor characters from the first book were fleshed out more too, to the point where we felt like we knew them well. There's still lots going on, as with the first book - surprises and secrets around each corner. I enjoyed reading about Frank finding his feet in the hotel, and slowly gaining confidence as time went on. I can almost picture the grand ballroom - I hope hotels in the 1930s were really like Anton's described, as it sounds wonderful!
There's jeopardy too, and no guarantee that it's going to end as you expect (and want) it to, so it keeps you guessing right to the end. It's heart-warming without being saccharine-sweet, it's just my cup of tea.
A real warm hug of a book, perfect to curl up with and forget the world.
