A very satisfying read for lovers of romance and family loyalties and the upstairs/downstairs life of a swanky London hotel in those difficult years when World War 2 was brewing. I hadn't read Anton du Beke's first book in this series (One Enchanted Evening) but he provided sufficient back story that that didn't prevent me enjoying this novel.

Moonlight Over Mayfair is unashamedly emotional, hugely emotional, and offers a wide variety of interleaved stories and interacting characters. There are secrets kept, characters with hidden agendas, distrust and hasty conclusions. There are certain aspects which remind me of long-running television soaps and I imagine these will prove very attractive to lovers of that genre.
