I'd like to start this off by thanking the team at Readers First for sending me a copy to read and review.

Mothers and Daughters is definitely not the type of book I'd gravitate towards in a bookshop. I don't even think I'd look twice at it, to be honest. However, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting read from Erica James!

Mothers and Daughters follow the story of sisters Willow and Martha and their mother, Naomi, who are all on new paths in life. Naomi has fallen in love again, despite what her children thinks, whilst Willow finds herself in a worrying relationship and Martha is trying hard to have a baby with her husband. The three ladies find solace in their family home, Anchor House, and over the coarse of the book find themselves sticking together now more than ever to keep each other safe and sane.

One of the things I truly adored about Mothers and Daughters was how thick the plot became. There wasn't really a lot of hard-hitting drama, but the events of each of the girls lives were eye-opening and, at times, heartbreaking. I think this is definitely one of those books that you have to enjoy in the sunshine with the birds singing in your back garden, it was comforting and warm and welcoming...all whilst being shocking and gripping!
