Naomi has lost her husband Colin, now it's just her and her two vastly different daughters, Martha and Willow.
Until that is she meets Ellis, an old flame from her past, not wanting to be alone for the rest of her life she rekindles that spark from their college days.
Though her daughters are shocked and horrified they also have been keeping secrets of their own.
Between family secrets recent and in the distant past all woman are forced to confront issues which resonate now in the present.
Naomi the fact her wonderful seeming marriage wasn't what it appeared on the surface, Martha learns a lot about herself and confronts her issues of being so uptight and controlling which is affecting family harmony and relationships while Willow is in a troubling place when she falls (or so she thought) in love with the sinister Rick.
This was a brilliant family drama told from differing points of view with a good solid plot that deals with a lot of social issues that are very relevant to women.
I thoroughly disliked the cat side plot, sadly I could see it aided the movement of the narrative but I still think it was vile and as animal cruelty is a personal trigger for me I will mark ANY book down on it as it impairs my judgment and enjoyment of the story or it would have been full marks.
