This book will be loved by devotees of Aga Sagas.
It was a bit slow and rather predictable for me but I enjoyed it nevertheless.
The story evolved around the widowed mother, Naomi, and her two daughters, Martha and Willow. Naomi has ‘hooked up’ with an old flame, Ellis, and a large part if the book deals with how her daughters react to this. Both daughters become pregnant - Willow by accident and Martha deliberately- and each gives birth to a daughter. The most interesting part of the story for me was the relationship between Willow and her partner, Rich. This highlighted the issues of rape, domestic violence and coercive control/gaslighting.
Not sure it merits the claim on the front cover that this is a ‘sweeping family drama’ more a touching, everyday tale told in a very readable way but I did read to the end which I very often don’t with this type of book.
