Without a doubt, the best book I've read this year so far. I was completely hooked, to the detriment of everything else I was supposed to be doing today. I devoured it.

The book is narrated jointly by the nameless author, and by the distant acquaintance he happens to meet in the airport while they wait for their flights. Their paths through lives have taken very different routes but they find themselves in this temporary, liminal space where Jeff feels apparently compelled to reveal everything that has happened since they last saw each other at college.

In some ways this book frustrated me - it's very self-obsessed and male-centred but nevertheless I can't help but love it. The short chapters kept me hooked and the writing was very pacey, always folding back from Jeff's story to the interaction in the airport at just the right moments.

I would highly recommend this book.
