I was looking forward to reading this book and wasn't disappointed although the whole story line is based at an airport with two main characters, one telling a story to another while waiting for their flight.
Two former classmates bump into each other and Jeff invites the author to drinks and to spend their time in the First Class lounge where Jeff starts telling the disturbing story of his gilded life. He asks the author to swear he'll keep it a secret.
It all starts one morning while Jeff is on a beach and notices a swimmer drowning. He pulls the man from the sea and starts resuscitation. The man, Francis, appeared to be breathing again so he waited for the emergency crew to take over.
Jeff becomes obsessed with Francis, the man he saved and want's to know who and what he does.
As the story unfolds you find Jeff ends up working for Francis, even getting involved with Francis's daughter. The final twist is right at the end of the book.
