Well written, enjoyable literary fiction, with an engaging and thought-provoking plot.

Our narrator is a struggling author, who happens to meet an old school friend whilst stuck waiting for a flight with a lengthy delay. The friend appears to be doing very well for himself and invites the struggling author to join him in the first-class lounge, which he is very grateful to accept in the circumstances.

Although the author's recollection is that they were barely acquaintances and they didn't know each other well, the friend soon steers the conversation to a story he is very keen to tell the author as a friend who was there at the beginning.

What follows is the friend's story of how he came to save someone's life, who it transpires is a very successful art dealer, and the ensuing events, with the added interest of being skewed by two potentially unreliable narrators.
