A 5 star read!
This novel was completely different to anything I have ever read before! I was unsure what to expect as this was my first novel by Lydia Syson, but it certainly won't be my last as I was left speechless after turning the final page.
I was enthralled by the number of themes Syson was able to explore and develop within Mr Peacock's Possessions without detriment to the main plot; culture, hope, sacrifice, revelations and adventure. Woven together to create a dramatic and heart wrenching tale of battle, Syson paints a vivid picture of island life and the hardships faced for those who live there.
I enjoyed how the novel explores multiple perspectives and points in time to truly reflect the sentiments of the island's natives throughout their journey. A difficult thing to achieve, but Syson does it perfectly!
