“…ordinary people who have found themselves in extraordinary situations, with fatal results.”

This is an interesting non-fiction book which looks at the laws behind murder and unlawful death.
It explores many cases and shows how they have shaped the law. There are historic cases and more recent ones.

It shows that murder and manslaughter aren’t as black and white as you may think.

It’s very readable and explains what’s happened without being patronising. There’s a glossary which is useful as some of the terms were unfamiliar to me.

It’s clear the author has gone to a lot of effort in researching this book.

I had heard of some of the cases, but most of them were new to me. I have gone on to look up some of the cases and learn more about what happened after reading about them in this book.

If you’re interested in true crime and the law then I would recommend this book.

3.5 stars.
