“If you’re reading this, I’m dead.”

Have I found myself a new thriller author to love? I just might have in Jack Jordan!

This book was so impactful, it forced its way under my skin. I needed to know more. But Jordan does such a good job of sharing just enough information to keep you on the edge of your seat without revealing too much. And I did not see that ending coming...

The beginning starts with a bang and I really felt for Rose, what an awful position to be in. Literally a mother’s worse nightmare. The emotion and turmoil of those moments were captured brilliantly and felt real and genuine.
Rose was an interesting character. I can’t say that I particularly liked her but I definitely sympathised with her heartbreaking situation. She didn’t really help herself though and I found her a little irritating at times. I’m not sure if that was an intentional choice but if it was I think it was a smart one. Not all MCs have to be likeable, sometimes it’s better if they’re not and in this case it worked that Rose wasn’t the perfect mother or wife. Instead she was written as a flawed woman doing her best but getting it wrong.
As the story developed, I liked Rose more and more. She showed so much tenacity and strength.

The plot was well constructed and continued to built right until the twist at the end. The chapters were short and snappy making this a quick read. The story also portrays an important message about some of the prejudices still prevalent in today’s society and how that can have a substantial impacts on so many lives.

In the first half the pacing was a little slow at times and that is the only thing stopping me from giving this one the full 5 stars!

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (rounded up to 5)
