This was the first book I have ever read by the author Jack Jordan and it won't be the last.
Rose (mother of twin girls) has been an insomniac for 10 years now, ever since her girls Lily and Violet were born. On their way home from the girls' football match one morning, plagued with lack of sleep, a tragic accident will change the families life forever. Rose drove off the bridge and only herself and one of the girls, Lily survived.
Rose was at fault and her remaining daughter hates her after hearing her admit she wished the other girl had survived and not her. Her husband can't even look her in the eyes anymore.
She has faced a lot of hard times in her life already and then she finds a diary when walking home one night. She can't help but read it and discovers that she may have evidence of a crime on her hands. When she takes it to the police she realises that they are not interested and sets about to find out what has happened, putting her life and that of her family at risk.
The story follows Rose and the struggles she faces not only with losing her family but also rekindling her relationship with her father and looking for answers into her brother's death along with multiple other young men's deaths.
