This debut novel was really well written. I thought it was an easy to read novel and the storyline was a good and powerful read. I would definitely look out for this author in the future. The main character was an incredibly strong character and you really felt for her. The descriptive text was well written and flowed well. The storyline made you realise how hard life can be for certain people and how desperate people could get and what they have to do just to survive. The main character's brother, Marcus, was an annoying character and you just wanted to scream at him to help out and get a job !! The relationship she has with her young neighbour, Trevor is a lovely warm relationship and I thought it was so horrible that they got split up - especially in the way it happened. The scene when he comes back and they are sat by the pool is really touching
