This book is based on a true story from the Oakland Police Department, and we follow the story of Kiara who falls into prositution and is offered a deal by the Oakland police department in exchange for her freedom. It explores police corruption and how young people are viewed in the media (and by people in general) after making a mistake or simply doing what they have to do to survive. I am sure that this will affect many people and hopefully make people think twice before judging someone as no one knows what anyone is truly going through. I also think it was very important to show this side of the police as this does happen and they cannot always be trusted.
