I feel that the first thing I need to mention here is that this book is not a light fluffy read and that at times it can be quite tough going to read on. I highly recommend that if you are a sensitive readers to certain topics that you should check out the trigger warnings before reading and decide if it is right for you.

This is the story of seventeen year old Kiara Johnson who's mother is in a rehab facility so she is left to fend for herself, her brother and the little boy next door who's mother is an addict and leaves him alone for days on end. The only way she can do this is to take to the streets.

After being picked up by two police men one night she finds herself in the middle of a media storm but by doing the right thing she may actually be putting her family in danger.

Even though this took me a while to read because of the dark content I must say it was well worth it and is one of those books that will stay with you for quite a while after.
