An immediately engaging and poignant story.

By the time I'd reached the end of my 'sneak-peek' of Yara Zgheib's latest novel I felt the distinctive voices she's given to Sama and Hadi will give a human face to the depressingly frequent news reports we've all become accustomed to watching on our screens, or reading about in the newspapers. Like migratory birds, refugees face many dangers during their journeys to find safety and, as we know, many of them won't make it. If I get to read this moving and disturbing story I know that I'll have to be prepared for the emotional journey it will take me on, one which will at times move me to tears and at others will fill me with rage!
I think the cover is striking and captures the essence of the novel's central
theme.
