This is a contemporary fiction that centres around a young Syrian couple, Sama and Hadi .

Set in 2017, Boston in America, a heavily pregnant Sama is waiting at the airport for her spouse, Hadi who has travelled to Jordan for his father's funeral. However, while travelling, immigration laws had changed in America so Hadi finds himself in a predicament. Can he go back to be with his beloved family? Will Sama give birth by herself?

I liked how the author took turns to focus on Sama and Hadi so you get a better insight to the characters. I liked how it was written in the first person so you as the reader find out about their secrets and hopes. I also liked their normal interactions with other characters.

When I first read the title, saw the cover and read the synopsis, I thought I would like to read this book because it sounded like a book of trials, tribulations but above all, hope. Having read it, I wasn't disappointed. I especially liked how the author developed the characters of Sama and Hadi.

I think it would be even better if the Arabic words, which were authentic to the storyline, had a translation in the footnote so it didn't feel like I missed part of the reading or understanding of the storyline.
