The cover drew me in with its strange centrepiece of a comb, and I'm thankful it did.

The first paragraph threw a tight net of interest around me with a note written as if to the reader about how good Nora hopes their lives with be but a sinister sacrifice is hinted by her hoping it was worth it. Already questions are demanding answers.

We move to Anita's funeral for the first section of chapter 1 which lures us in with Nora' s main introduction with which we learn she doesn't doesnt want her mothers death to affect her life. Also that she doesn't like the people at her mother's funeral and opts to leave early where we meet Max Lambert and mysterious character who doesn't divulge his intentions.
Our curiosity of Max only strengthens when we learn of how he knows Nora but why on earth he would come to her mother's funeral is a question left hanging in the air

We're then introduces to Alvar and Marion who know of Anita's life that no one knows of, as well as an allusion to Lambert and his children being there for a charade. Giving us more reason to read on.

We then go one to delve further into half revealed truths and plot threads that leave us in awe and with more questions swimming in our heads.

The set up of this books plot threads have tied me up and I may just accidentally slip and buy this book on my next shopping trip. Well worth the read from what I have seen.
