Anita is dead, quite possibly by her own hand as the police haven't been able to find any evidence of foul play. Norma is piqued at her mother as the station she chose to end her life at is one of the ones on her daily commute to work. Although piqued is probably too strong a word for what Norma is feeling. Thanks to the patches and the drugs she has managed to numb all sensation.

Anita's death has created a problem, a big one as it would turn out. You see the salon she was working at had come to rely on the Ukrainian extensions and with only a 1 week supply left they simply cannot find out where Anita sourced them. Even turning over her apartment and cloning her laptop haven't shed any light on their source.

Bit of a tough one this, I found the opening chapters quite confusing at first with a myriad of characters introduced with no clear indication of who they were. I think I'm just about getting to grips with the "who's who" of the novel but not entirely sure I really care. Nothing really grips me about the characters or the early premise of the book thus far.
