I enjoyed the sections with Norma herself. The details of the lives of mother and daughter were very touching. However I did find the plot involving mother, Lambert etc rather confusing.

I think this is a story you need to give time to as a lot is delivered quickly to the reader. That includes the number of characters. I found I lost track at times and had to remind myself of who was who.

The descriptions of the magic hair sounds corny, but it’s delivered very well. The main character has an acute sense of smell too and this helps build a sense of place and atmosphere. You really feel the sense of loss for this young woman following the puzzling death of her mother.

This is one to take your time over.
