This book is for sure a slow-burner and there were definitely points at which I was tempted to skip ahead to find out what was going to happen! However, despite this, this book is incredibly moving. I’m glad I resisted the urge to skip ahead as the writing is in itself poetic and transportational. The book explores a number of topics, from parenting, to sacrifice and letting go of those we love, in a deeply sensitive manner. All of the characters felt true, not like some kind of fictional character but TrueType real, with the all the intricacies of thought, feeling and relationships that that comes with. What I took most of all from this book is the theme of sacrifice, by a mother for her son and a son for his mother. In the end though, it is Oliver Loving who makes the biggest sacrifice.

This is a story that will stay with me for a very long time.
