One Split Second by Caroline Bond is a story that anyone could potentially face. A mistake that is made but which has far reaching consequences for many people. A group of young friends travelling home after a party and a car accident that changes everyone’s lives forever. Who is to blame, and how are people able to forgive the person they feel is responsible? The book is told from the perspective of the young people in the car, and their parents and highlights the devastating consequences of a human error of judgment.
I found this book to be thought provoking and relevant. The relationships between the characters were well developed and realistic. I can’t deny that I was waiting for something else to be revealed and was left feeling dissatisfied that it wasn’t. That didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment and I would recommend this novel.
