One Split Second is the first Caroline Bond book that I have read and I was very impressed! The style of writing is really nice - I like being able to read from more than one character perspective. Given the number of families affected by the accident, getting to hear inner voices from many of these made it feel more real and more engaging. The scenes set in the hospital were really well written, which isn't always a given in fiction, and I found them to be very moving yet sensitively conveyed. There are a lot of emotions within and it is a book where the central themes will remain with me for a long time. I loved the cover illustration, simple but beautiful. This is a gripping read which made me think and consider the role of punishment, justice and redemption.
