I'd never heard of this author before, but I was immediately drawn to the cover.

I've not had a great experience with novels set during the pandemic, I've read a couple and a lot of them really labour the points of lockdown which is a bit dreary after almost two years of reading about it in the news (although maybe that will be different in the future). HOWEVER, this book dealt with it in a fabulous way, the eccentricities of lockdown had drawn all these characters together in one place, but it was not too heavily dwelt on and it was more background facts than the storyline.

The way in which this book is written is hard to describe, it flows so well that it's almost like prose. I really enjoyed how all the characters and their connection to each other and the group was laid out right at the beginning, as having that many characters can sometimes be confusing. I felt like I was then prepped to go into the story and the background details had already been dealt with, so characters started evolving straight away.

I felt like I was really there, and loved how this story unfolded and how the characters evolved.
