Although the heading for this review is for Piranesi the copy I received was for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell so my review is for this book. This book is a tomb of a book at over 1000 pages. Although it was a paperback edition it was far to big and heavy to carry around and read as I would normally do.
The edition I received was difficult to read as the words were too small and the ink was too light on the pages which didn’t help. I was put off when I first saw the book and feel that if it had been written as a series I would have enjoyed it much more as I could have carried it around with me like I do with other books. Maybe the publishers could do this as a seperate idea to appeal to a different reader in the future. It was well written but I wouldn’t put it on my to read or recommended list as I could read so many good books in the time it took to read just this one.
