“In short one must return to the last place in which one had stood before the iron hand of modern rationality gripped one's mind.”

I didn’t have any expectations going into Piranesi. That being said, it still blew me away. I’ve often described ten thousand doors of January as the book equivalent of folklore. Not that it was a surprise release, but because of the feelings it inspired in me. Piranesi is evermore; a magical l journey that heals the part in you looking for beauty.

Piranesi is fantasy for adults, but I suppose the lovely lyrical style of it would make us want to call it literary fiction. It’s the only book where the author could keep going on with the world-building, but still keep us entranced.

Of course, I can also see that Piranesi is a very either you hate it or you don't book. I would recommend everyone try a sample before you get a copy of the book.
