Poisoned is a wonderful fairy tale retelling - told from a 'feminist' perspective, this story of Snow White is interesting and engaging. The characters of the wicked stepmother and the dwarfs are very well depicted. In fact it was a lot of fun to read the parts of the story in which the seven dwarfs are there - they were cool and funny!

Sophie is trying to find her 'lost' heart, and the author empowers her in this retelling, when compared to the original Grimm's story. Sophie's kindness keeps annoying and irritating the stepmother, and it is very interesting to see how Sophie helps herself by using the lessons learnt during her adventures, to build a strong foundation of self belief.

The spider named Weber is also interesting. The perspective with regard to the 7 dwarfs who are Jakob (the blacksmith), Schatzi (the tailor), Julius (the herbalist), Jeremias (the hunter), Joost (the carpenter), Josef (the farmer), and Johann (the clockmaker) has been best to read in this retelling.

Overall, a nice read!
