Overall I really enjoyed this book. Initially it was the cover that caught my eye but after seeing many good reviews I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did.
I found it very interesting and eye opening to read a fantasy book based on a culture that is different to anything I’ve read before. This was really refreshing and I learned a lot from it.
I loved the characters in this book and their relationships with each other. I loved seeing how all the council members interacted with each other both the adults and children and I enjoyed seeing how these developed over time. I also loved the concept of this book and the storyline.
The only reason I didn’t rate this book 5 stars is because I felt that in places the world building was a bit lacking. I found it hard to imagine the world in certain places throughout the book due to the lack of descriptive language. However I do personally prefer a lot of descriptive writing so this may have just been me.
