This is probably not the sort of book I'd be drawn to and I'm not familiar with the author but I have to say I found the opening chapters intriguing. The book's title suggests a thematic connection between the missing young woman, whose disappearance remains in the minds of her family, and the mental decline of our narrator's father. And it hints at an actual connection as well.
