I was not prepared for this book - it was funny, heart-warming, distressing, compassionate and insightful. I was expecting more of a thriller and who-did-it kind of book, but that's not this book and I'm so glad it wasn't.

Set in New Zealand, Emily who has spent years living in London, returns back to New Zealand to care for her father who is suffering with dementia. It gives her the opportunity to truly connect with her father and learns so much more about as his guard drops.

I feel like I learnt a great deal about dementia and what a truly heart-breaking illness it is and understood more about how it affects those with it, but also those around them. The book is pitched about the disappearance of Leah, but it is so, so much more than that.

It's only until the later chapters that you discover what happens to Leah and I urge you now to grab the tissues before you get to that point.

What a fantastic and gripping read.
