A Slow Burner

I want to start this off by thanking the team at Readers First for sending me a copy of the book to read and review.

Remember Me follows the story of Emily who heads home to New Zealand after a concerned neighbour calls her about her dad who suffers from dementia. After years in the UK, Emily finds herself unpicking secrets from the past in her dad's slipping memory and as he lets his guard down.

I thought this was a very slow burner of a book. I struggled to get completely gripped at the beginning because it seemed long-winded and I felt like I couldn't connect with the characters at all. However, I ploughed through and found that the second half of the book was more compelling.

I felt like it was very beautifully written and compassionate, but I did struggle to find myself completely obsessed with it.

Overall, this is a very good book for the genre but not the best.
