This book was absolutely well delivered and explores different views ever so well. Charity Norman once again delivers both a gripping and beautifully written story. The story unfolds as London-based Emily is called home to New Zealand for ‘just a few weeks’ following her father's Alzheimers diagnosis. Charity Norman carefully narrates Dr Felix Kirkland’s worrying confusion confusion and paranoia while also drawing attention to a rarely discussed joy and clarity that can come when those with Alzheimer’s are freed of societal expectations and are able to share their true selves. As a result, daughter Emily gets to know her once distant father all over again as their roles as caregiver and care needer quickly reverse. Emily learns about her father more than she ever would have thought and this novel explores the idea of a parent beginning to open up more to their child. This book helped me see life through a different light and I often find myself considering what Emily would do. A definite 5/5 stars from me!
