An emotional read

There's a lot of emotion in this one, and it touches on some interesting and difficult subjects.

Watching Emily's father sink further into his dementia was utterly heartbreaking. The family friends were lovely and the actual family deplorable, which I enjoyed. Whilst I did see one twist coming, I didn't see the full extent of it and thought it was so much better than I was expecting.

It was a little slow to start and I felt mum being mentioned in the present a bit redundant. Also, there was a letter that I felt should have been opened much earlier in the story - though it would have made the book much shorter! How things ended with the family was a little frustrating too, but these are all quite minor annoyances.

Overall, this was a real rollercoaster of feelings with such a fitting ending. I know Charity has released quite a few other books that I will certainly be looking into.
