Having read:, Secrets of Strangers by Charity Norman I was very keen to read her latest novel. I was not disappointed. The opening sentences about the disappearance of Leah Parata make the reader want to find out what happened to her.The story begins in New Zealand in 1994 and is told by Emily. She was the last person to see Leah before she set off to the mountains to study snails. The story then moved on 25 years. Emily is now a book illustrator living in England when a neighbour of her father Felix calls from New Zealand to tell her that he has dementia and she needs to come to help him. Despite never feeling close to her father she goes and is shocked as she discovers how ill he is. There are many more secrets for her to find out. This is quite a sad story with themes
of altzeimers, Huntington's disease and disappearance. It is sensitively written.
