When Leah Parata goes missing the local community mourns her loss but no trace could ever be found as to how or why she had disappeared.
This was twenty five years ago and now in the present day Emily Kirkland has flown back to New Zealand to look after her father.
Felix has been afflicted with the terrible disease of Alzheimer's.
Emily is struggling to cope yet at the same time she is getting a rather deep and profound look at her father and realises the man she thought she knew was more enigmatic than she could have imagined as his mind loosens its grip on secrets he has held for those twenty five years.
He knows what happened to Leah all that time ago but the creeping fug of the disease is leaving smaller and lesser glimpses into the past so Emily has to sort out the jigsaw puzzle that is now his mind.
This was a touching and emotional story about the impact of Alzheimer's on its victims and their surrounding families.
A beautiful and tender story that deals delicately with such a horrid condition that robs it's sufferers of all notions of themselves and who they are.
