Remember Me is set in The Americas and is about a lady called Emily. The first chapter introduces a neighbour/friend called Leah who inexplicably disappears. This chapter is very short but explains things succinctly. The following sections then reveal that Emily left home at an early stage to travel and later settle in the UK; that she is estranged from her two siblings; that she occasionally visits her father who has been gradually losing his memory; that she has a son who also loves to travel.

Emily receives a 'phone call one night from her family friend/neighbour from home about her father who has been diagnosed with dementia. With a sense of guilt, she decides to fly home. From then on, information is revealed about her relationship with her father and her neighbours with the former giving her an envelope to be opened upon his death. You get a sense that there are secrets, not very pleasant, that will soon be uncovered.

The narrative is in the first person which makes it very easy to read. From the extracts given, you do not know if Emily is a reliable narrator. Yet she sounds pleasant and earnest enough. She seems like that she wants to do the right thing by her dad. There is enough mystery revealed to make you want to read on even though you may not be familiar with the area/s depicted. All the characters have been introduced and make you want to learn more about them.
