Instantly drawn to this book from the cover, always enjoy the Roman setting, even if i find characters names a bit hard to read. Who doesn't enjoy a bit of political backstabbing and chicanery? Seems to be plenty of it here with the nutjob Nero at the helm.

Perhaps slightly put off by it being book 8 in a series, do we need to read the rest to get the most out of this? From the extract it seems not, felt like you could pick up the story anywhere in the series.
